At Alltel, we believe every parent or employer should have the ability to limit exposure to questionable content available through the Alltel Web for any phone on their account. Parental Controls allow you to exercise this kind of control at no extra charge.
Keep the following in mind:
Parental controls do not filter objectionable material from text messages. Parental controls do not work for secure connections such as SSL, https, vpn.
Parental Controls can be accessed only through My Account, and only by a user with Account Administrator access privileges. Alltel representatives cannot set up or change Parental Controls.
Parental Controls are not automatic. You must opt in to use them.
When you opt in for a phone on your account, you can choose among the following types of filters:
- All Ages
Content suitable for all ages. Contains no nudity, profanity, or sexual situations. Contains minimal violence.
Parents are urged to exercise care in monitoring this content and cautioned against allowing access to children under the age of 13. Content does not include intense violence, nudity, hate speech, or graphic depiction of illegal drugs.
- Young Adult
Content is intended for ages 17 and up. Content does not include nudity or profanity, but may contain violence, sexually explicit images, dialogue, or references.
All “additional” filtering options are turned off (all content is allowed). However, selected lines that have this filtering option will continue to get the benefit of the Alltel Global Filtering functionality unless/until an authorized user opts out of using the global filter for the selected line.
Alltel Global Filtering
Alltel Global Filtering is the default profile assigned upon opting in. This filter allows a user to see the majority of most Web content. It filters out topics such as abortion, drug-alcohol, pornography, gambling, hate groups, criminal skills, cult, hi-jacking, violence and weapons.
If you opt in without making any further selection, Adult is selected by default.
Using Parental Controls
- Log in to My Account.
- Select the Account Management tab on the top navigation bar.
- Click the Parental Controls tab.
- Opt-in to the phone number you want to filter.
- Click Save.
- Select any additional filter settings that you want.
- Click Save.
Important: You must click Save after your initial selection or when you make any changes. If you have any problems setting up the filters, call 1-800-ALLTEL1.

- Q: Can Parental Controls filter objectionable material from Text and Picture Messaging or applications downloaded from Axcess Shop?
A: No. Parental Controls filters are designed only to work with Axcess Web.
- Q: Can I apply Parental Controls to all lines on my account at the same time?
A: No. You must select and apply filters to one line at a time.
